“Guidaí”

The artwork “Guidaí” is a magical and colorful representation that shows a woman from the Charrúa nation performing rituals to the spirit of the moon, known as “Guidaí”. In the Charrúa cosmology, the moon took this name when it had to heal, energize and strengthen the protective spirits that roam at night. The artwork highlights the connection with the spirituality of the Charrúa nation, which remains present in Uruguay. Charruart’s vibrant watercolor brings to life the essence of ritualism and connection with nature, inviting the viewer to reflect on the importance of preserving the memory and culture of indigenous peoples.
